Volunteering Opportunity – ACE Mentoring

To our extended mechanical engineering community, this is a call for mentors to participate in the 2026-2027 ACE Mentoring school year! They anticipate serving close to 500 students in Seattle, Tacoma, the Eastside, and possibly other parts of Washington this year.

If you are not familiar with ACE, since 2001, the ACE Mentor Program of Washington has helped 5,000+ high school students learn about the architecture, engineering, and construction professions. Yes, ACE is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in the Seattle Area (including the Eastside and Tacoma)!

The program is free to students, thanks to donations from local firms like yours, as well as mentors, parents, and other supporters. To date, ACE has awarded over $1.6 million in scholarships to students who pursued A/E/C fields at the university level. During the ACE Mentor Program school year, ACE guides the students through an RFP, and help them develop designs for a project tied into our local area. The teams will quite often visit construction sites, or tour existing facilities that match the project in the RFP.

Qualifying high school seniors are awarded scholarships and many students remain in touch with industry professionals for continued mentoring with career choices, college and internship applications, and future employment opportunities. ACE has a great history of students coming back in their professional careers to be mentors!

    • Mentor Orientation & Training events are the week of October 12 (in-person) and the week of October 19 (virtual)
    • Kickoffs are the week of October 27
    • Team meetings begin the week of November 2

ACE is always in need of mentors in the MEP engineering fields and would love to have your support for their teams! Reach out to your friends and co-workers, and come and enjoy the fun!

The time commitment is a few hours after work, generally every other week. Chances are your coworkers and peers have participated, so please reach out to them.
