| President’s Message October 2026 Chapter Meeting 2026 Indigenous Peoples’ Day and School Supplies Drive YEA Oktoberfest & Halloween |
President’s Message As we welcome October, I’m excited to share an update on the incredible momentum our chapter has built over the past month. September was filled with memorable events, meaningful connections, and opportunities to showcase the strength of the Puget Sound Chapter. Most importantly, it reinforced what makes our chapter special: the engagement, enthusiasm, and dedication of our volunteers and members. One of the highlights of September was hosting Sarah Maston, ASHRAE Society President, at our September Chapter Meeting. Sarah’s presentation, Changing the Game: Retrofitting for Resilience, challenged us to think about the critical role existing buildings play in creating a sustainable and resilient future. It was an honor to welcome a Society leader whose theme emphasizes the importance of healthy, high-performing buildings and the people who design, operate, and maintain them. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success. Immediately following the chapter meeting, Seattle served as the host city for the 2026 ASHRAE Building Decarbonization Conference at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington in Renton. This conference brought together industry leaders, owners, engineers, and policymakers from across North America to discuss practical solutions for reducing emissions and improving building performance. Our chapter was proud to support this important event and to see so many Puget Sound members contributing as attendees, presenters, volunteers, and conference leaders. It was also an honor to help host the YEA Happy Hour during the conference and facilitate meaningful networking opportunities for emerging professionals within our industry. As we look ahead to October, there is plenty to be excited about. Our Joint October Chapter Meeting with ASPE will provide another opportunity to reconnect, learn from our industry peers, and continue the conversations that began during the President’s Visit and Decarbonization Conference. We will also recognize regional technology award recipients whose projects have demonstrated exceptional engineering innovation and performance. October also marks the start of several important chapter initiatives. Student Activities, Government Affairs, YEA, and many of our other committees are ramping up programs for the year, creating opportunities for involvement at every stage of your career. Whether you are a student, a new professional, or a seasoned industry veteran, there is a place for you to contribute and make an impact. We are also looking forward to participating in the upcoming Indigenous Peoples’ Day and School Drive event, which provides an opportunity to engage with our community, celebrate Indigenous cultures, and continue fostering a welcoming and inclusive profession for all. See more details about donation opportunities on the event page on the website. In addition to all of the immediate fun, planning is already underway for some of our larger events later this year, including Casino Night and the golf tournament, and the exciting long-term effort to bring CRC back to Seattle in 2031. It’s inspiring to see members stepping forward to help shape the future of our chapter well beyond this Society year. Thank you for your continued support, volunteerism, and enthusiasm. Every meeting attended, student mentored, committee served, and conversation shared helps strengthen our chapter and our profession. I look forward to seeing many of you throughout October and at our upcoming chapter events. Lynndy Hedgcoth President, Puget Sound ASHRAE Chapter 2026-2027 Society Year |
