Senior Project Development Engineer – Willdan Group – Portland, OR or Seattle, WA

Do you like to manage the development of building projects that reduce energy use and transform the indoor environment for occupants? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

We are looking for a mechanical or energy engineer to oversee analysis and develop infrastructure improvement projects from pre-design to construction. You will be a trusted technical advisor for our clients and manage all technical aspects of the sales cycle. In this role, you will support sales efforts through strategic project development, on-site meetings and presentations of proposed design solutions.

You will identify and manage the development of creative and holistic solutions to meet client needs. We will look to you to perform on-site facility audits to evaluate building system conditions and facility operations. You will also work with a collaborative team to identify and develop energy and water cost reduction solutions. Additionally, you will develop designs for building mechanical, electrical, and alternative energy systems upgrades as well as oversee overall engineering and development efforts.

Your knowledge of high-performance and sustainable buildings and your ability to identify creative solutions to problems will be incredibly beneficial to our team and clients.

You are someone who has knowledge of high-performance building systems. You seek challenges and can apply innovative approaches to solving problems. You work well in a strategic team environment focused on decommoditized solutions and unique approaches to projects.

We will look to you to collaborate, think strategically, and coordinate with an internal team, subcontractors and clients. You have experience presenting creative ideas in a clear and compelling way to clients and partners.

We are also looking for someone who is familiar with the construction process or is willing to learn.

What We Would Love to See:
• Previous professional experience in HVAC building systems analysis and building energy simulation.
• Experience developing and cultivating relationships with clients.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in commercial, institutional and public sector facilities.
• Experience as a project manager.
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training designation
