Building Performance Analyst

Location: Seattle, WA

We have a great opportunity for an experienced building performance analyst to join our High-Performance Buildings team in our Seattle office.
Responsibilities

Develop whole building energy models using industry tools such as IES Virtual Environment, OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, eQUEST, etc.
Provide detailed energy and life cycle cost analysis to guide design decisions and utility incentives.
Conduct building energy and water benchmarking analysis.
Review design documents (drawings, plans, specifications, etc.) to evaluate building envelope, electrical and HVAC equipment and controls for the purpose of building performance analysis.
· Provide technical expertise, support, and analysis for meeting energy and sustainability requirements and objectives of projects.

Provide building performance-related documentation for compliance with green rating systems (e.g. LEED) and / or applicable energy codes, etc.
Assist in engineering calculations and details required for project delivery.
Participate in-house activities, including internal education, preparation of case studies, improving modeling workflows, new technologies and trends, etc.
· Prepare reports and presentations for project teams and stakeholders.

· Coordinate and manage multiple projects, deadlines, clients, and project types.

· Support Säzän’s commitment to, and tracking MEP 2040 Commitment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors’ degree in Architecture or Engineering is required. Masters’ degree preferred.
· Minimum 3 to 5 years’ professional experience working in the Building Performance field.

· Ability to use at least one of the following building simulation tools: IES-VE, OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, eQUEST.

· Understanding of HVAC system design and operations and building science fundamentals.

· Understanding of high-performance building design including passive design, thermal comfort, indoor air quality, water efficiency, daylighting, embodied carbon, renewable and alternative energy strategies.

Understand applicable codes and standards, and rating systems.
Experience in or ability to learn scripting in Python or Excel.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite.
Proficiency in CAD/BIM software as necessary for building performance analysis.
Strong technical report writing and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

LEED Accredited Professional and ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) certification is preferred.
Experience in Thermal Comfort Analysis
Experience in Daylighting Modeling (Radiance/DIVA)
Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics
Experience in Parametric Design (Rhino/Grassshopper),
Experience in InDesign.
