Building Energy Analyst

ArchEcology, LLC is a respected small LEED Consulting firm. Our team combines years of architectural design and construction observation experience with extensive green building consulting. Together we have successfully certified more than 100 LEED projects, and a variety of projects under other green building programs, totaling over five million square feet.

We are looking for an Energy Modeler to join our team that has deep interest and dedication for sustainability. This role will add value to our client’s projects that will result in healthy, efficient and resilient spaces to live and work.

Description

This position will provide energy modeling services to green building projects seeking design guidance, energy code compliance and LEED certification.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities may include:

Energy modeling using Equest or EnergyPlus per ASHRAE 90.1 and state and local energy codes.
Analysis of interior and exterior lighting power density and lighting controls
Analysis of building envelope systems
Analysis and optimization of mechanical systems
Research and evaluation of energy code issues.
Drafting reports and compiling documentation for client review, LEED documentation and energy code submissions
Energy code analysis, guidance and agency submittals
Interface with a wide range of internal and external resources including clients, architects, engineers, and contractors.
Adherence to project budgets and schedules

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

Green building professional certification; LEED Accredited Professional or Sustainable Building Advisor preferred
B.S. architecture, building science or engineering
Minimum of 2 years experience in a related field
Familiarity in the design or construction of green building projects
Comprehend, analyze and make recommendations based on data
Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office (particularly Excel) and a DOE-2 based energy modeling software
Clear and concise writing and verbal communication skills
Ability to take on obstacles contributing, consider different approaches and make decisions to resolve
Engage in team partnerships with a collaborative and well-intentioned approach

Preferred:

M.S. in architecture, building science or engineering
Experience with Revit energy tools, WUFI, THERM, or CFD are all a plus
