We are seeking a Mid-Level Facilities Mechanical Engineer (Level 3) to join our Facilities and Asset Management team located in Renton, Washington.
This mechanical engineering position will focus on industrial building HVAC, steam, compressed air, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems and reliability engineering.
This is an exciting role offering extensive development opportunities. This role involves leading project teams to develop facilities mechanical system designs and providing maintenance support for the mechanical portions of buildings at the Boeing Renton plant.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide maintenance support for mechanical phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds; develop and update design standards and site-specific operating procedures
Support steam generation, distribution and utilization; work with on-site boiler operators, plumbers and mechanics to provide reliable steam to end users
Support HVAC systems for office towers, paint hangers, research labs, etc.; partner with HVAC techs for reliable operations
Support Plumbing systems such as domestic and fire water distribution, natural gas distribution, and sanitary sewer and lift stations
Translate customer requirements into conceptual construction design options by analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, conducting code research, developing preliminary design elements, resolving interdisciplinary engineering support requirements
Provide mentorship to strategic, short-term, and long-term infrastructure planning; completes studies; analyzes current conditions and future requirements; recommends capital improvements; captures and analyzes data; and works with both internal and external customers to identify and assess alternatives and impacts
Estimate resource costs/requirements, identifying materials, equipment, and services, and developing initial project schedule to establish project scope
Plan and handle projects within budget; Advise a team of partners in acquisition and modification of assets to enable customers to achieve business objectives; Assist in the creation of contract scope; produce, review and approve detailed design documents
Lead and support construction projects by providing input on vendor selection; review contractor proposals; collaborate with government/regulatory agencies; monitors project progress and vendor/consultant performance
Integrate the activities of multiple engineering teams, outside consultants, government agencies and provide support
Offer project alternatives to ensure compliance with construction documents, building codes, jurisdictional requirements, standards, ordinances and regulations to meet project objectives
Analyze cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)
Facilitate implementation of improvements in asset efficiency, availability, and maintainability; to specify configuration of new assets to support reliability programs
This position is 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required onsite at the Renton, WA location.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree or greater in an engineering related field
3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
3+ years of experience in mechanical or facilities engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience repairing and maintaining high pressure steam boilers and air compressors
3+ years of experience supporting industrial facility building systems to include the following: HVAC, Ventilation, Vacuum Systems, Compressed Air, Chilled Water, and/or Water/Sewer Systems
3+ years of experience working with Fire Protection Engineering
5+ years of experience in data and/or predictive analytics
5+ years of experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or other similar rigorous problem/analysis/resolution, processes to engineering development and manufacturing/production efforts
5+ years experience in equipment maintenance and reliability engineering
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Plant Engineer (CPE), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE)
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master + 3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for associate level: 102,850 – 139,150
