Mechanical Engineer II

Responsible for providing the West Commercial sales team design support, application support and training on Commercial systems. Conceives, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for solving complex engineering problems. Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering solutions. Creates and implements plans to transfer and leverage engineering knowledge to internal and external customers. Defines and establishes design constraints. Recognized as a subject matter expert as demonstrated by significant accomplishment and contribution.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

Application Support:

Provide technical and application support through the development and implementation of application software tools, programs, and information to create strategic advantage, solve market needs, and leverage core capability to increase the knowledge and specification of Mitsubishi solutions. Develop engineering application white papers to address specific business unit concerns. Respected as subject matter expert.
Work independently and occasionally alongside another Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering and design support on METUS products to the Business Unit sales team, sales representatives, distributors, design professionals, and contractors.

Possess a great depth of knowledge across the METUS product line to provide solutions and support to the Business Unit sales team.

Collaborate with other Business Unit Mechanical Engineers and METUS Applications team to develop technical materials to solve customer concerns.

Counsel Business Unit sales team and customers on how to resolve complex application and design challenges.
Knowledge and familiarity with key codes and standards as it relates to the commercial HVAC industry including but not limited to ASHRAE 62.1, 90.1, 15, 34, 55, IECC, and state specific adopted building codes, mechanical codes, and plumbing codes.

Perform various support functions relating to specific sales activities and opportunities.
Perform other job functions and project management initiative as needed.
Training:

Lead the creation and implementation of applications-based training for field sales, consulting-specifying mechanical engineers, distributors, owners, design professionals, and contractors. Training includes knowledge transfer of existing products/applications and introduction of new products/applications.
Assist and collaborate with Business Unit sales team to provide training on more in-depth subjects and topics beyond standard companywide training material.
Product Development:

Suggests product development ideas, for evaluation by internal product development team, to address needs in the business unit. Collaborates with management to define product feasibility, scope, impact, and technical needs. Coordinates and integrates efforts of other departments (including manufacturing, marketing, sales, operations, and training) to ensure product success.
Technical Documentation and Collateral:

Create and review technical documentation, literature, and collateral. Technical documentation includes, but is not limited to, application notes, I&O manuals, schematic drawings, submittals, engineering data, and white papers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree.
Prefer P.E. license. Prefer LEED A.P. and CEM accreditation.
5+ years of mechanical HVAC experience. Preferably with a consulting engineering background including knowledge of HVAC design, energy analysis and plumbing design.
Experience with Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, EnergyPro, and EQuest.
Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT.
Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and networking; Strong communication, presentation, training, and technical writing skills; Analytical approach to problem solving; Team oriented, self motivated, and like to work hands-on.
