Prepare Your Code Change Submissions!

The State Building Code Council has begun the new adoption and review process for the 2018 code editions. The deadline for code change proposals for the Group 1 Codes (IBC/IEBC, IFC, WUIC, WSEC-C) is May 25, 2018. The process for the Group 2 Codes will begin in the fall of 2018. The anticipated effective date for the 2018 codes is July 1, 2020.

If you wish to submit a 2018 Code Change Proposal for the International Building Code (IBC), International Existing Building Code (IEBC), International Fire Code (IFC) or the Washington State Energy Code (WSEC), send your completed proposal forms to SBCC@DES.WA.GOV.

Code changes should be based on the 2018 Model Codes and/or the 2015 existing state amendments . The base document for the Energy Code is the
2018 Integrated Draft of the WSEC.
