We all had a blast at the Aquarium!

Thank you to Ashley Lippincott with Turner Construction for hosting the TAC Tour of the new Point Defiance Aquarium construction site! A special thanks to all who attended and those who helped make it a reality. We look forward to seeing you at the next TAC event!

” The attention to detail designing and building this complex building with specialty systems for the very special marine occupants is impressive”

“The most surprising part was the construction materials required to accommodate the corrosion from the salt water. The building minimized the use of metal. The structure was made of wood members and concrete.”

“The thing that surprised me the most was how compact the facility was and how big the viewing glass was. For the Baja exhibit, the aquarium is 260,000 gallons and will be home to scalloped hammerheads, sea turtles and skates.”

“The process of moving and acclimating the fish into their new home starts in April…and [t]he grand opening is in July. My son and I are excited to see the finished product.”
