Luca Capobianchi
Government Affairs Chair
Luca Capobianchi is a Mechanical Engineering Project Manager and Technical Lead at Design West Engineering. He graduated from Gonzaga University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a registered P.E. in Washington State with 10 years of experience in the HVAC&R industry. His experience encompasses a diverse range of building types, including commercial, institutional, high-rise residential, mixed-use, multi-family residential, K-12, and industrial projects. He has also contributed to the design of U.S. government embassies, demonstrating his capabilities in both large-scale and high-security environments.
Luca’s primary focus has been the design of dry-side HVAC systems, particularly in multi-family and mixed-use developments, while also building valuable expertise in plumbing design. His commitment to a sustainable future, highlighted by his LEED accreditation, and his extensive project portfolio make him a versatile and highly skilled professional. He has been an active member of ASHRAE since 2016 and a member of ASME since 2015. Luca served as Vice Chair of the Puget Sound ASHRAE Chapter Government Affairs Committee during the 2025–2026 term and now serves as Chair for the 2026–2027 term. He is dedicated to advancing the profession and contributing to both ASHRAE and the broader HVAC&R industry.
