April Chapter Meeting – Seattle Convention Center Summit

Event Details

The Seattle Convention Center Summit building is one of the most significant construction projects in Seattle in recent years. The new building roughly doubles the event capacity for the Seattle Convention Center organization and has been highly regarded from an architectural and design perspective since its opening early last year. Join the mechanical design & construction teams for a dive into the mechanical systems, design and construction challenges, and solutions.

Anne Marie Moellenberndt is an Associate Principal at Arup in Seattle. Anne Marie has over 20 years of experience in HVAC design and has contributed to many notable projects in the Seattle area, including the Seattle Convention Center Summit, the historic renovation of King Street Station, the Pike Place MarketFront, the Starbucks Roastery, the Gates Foundation Headquarters, and many other commercial, public sector, and higher ed projects. Anne Marie specializes in high performance and integrated design.

Anne Marie stepped into the lead Mechanical and EoR role for the Convention Center in 2016 (at the beginning of DD phase), and then into the project manager role for Arup’s MEP team at the beginning of construction in 2018.

Anne Marie is a Seattle native and has lived in Ballard for many years with her husband, 2 daughters and 2 dogs.

Emaan Ammar is a senior mechanical engineer in the Arup Seattle office. She has worked for commercial, mixed-use, hotel, laboratory, and healthcare clients implementing their visions. Her experience ranges from her time early on in her career as a solar energy consultant, to energy modeling, energy audits, and design and commissioning – with a passion for sustainability throughout.

Emaan began working on the Seattle Convention Center Summit project in 2016 and has particularly enjoyed designing efficient and comfortable systems for its large open spaces and collaborating closely with other members of the project team.

Ryan Hunter is a Senior Project Manager with Macdonald Miller Facility Solutions; he has been working in the mechanical construction industry for the past 13 years. He currently oversees healthcare projects throughout Western Washington.

He began working on the Convention Center project in the design assist phase in 2016 and has seen it through to the close out 7 years later.  His focus early in the project was on the hydronic systems but grew to overseeing the startup, balancing, commissioning, and turnover of the project. He enjoyed the complexities, challenges, and learning experiences of building such a large and unique building during tumultuous times.

Ryan was born and raised in the Puget Sound, studied construction management at the University of Washington, and lives in the foothills of the Cascades with his wife and two young children.
