Leslie Johnson, PE, LEED AP BD+C, Associate Leslie lives to bring groups together.  Her career as a Mechanical Designer started in 1998, at the same time when LEED® was gaining traction at a furious rate in Seattle.  A project early in her career, the Seattle Justice Center, the first and tallest Seattle Civic Campus building completed in 2002, adhere to Seattle’s sustainable building initiative (requiring buildings over 5,000 sf to achieve a LEED Silver rating). Leslie quickly realized through her involvement in ASHRAE (Chapter President) and Cascadia Region Green Building Council (Steering Committee Member), a mechanical engineering conference would fill a gap to provide practical resources for Mechanical Engineers to implement sustainable approaches in their designs.  In recognition of her efforts to create Engineering Green 06 she was the sole engineer honored with a 2006 Puget Sound BetterBricks Award, an initiative of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. Fast forward to the present, Leslie’s passion for sustainable design as a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor (recognized internationally), and Living Future Network Ambassador Presenter, teaching Living Building Challenge concepts in Canada, Washington, and Oregon.  Leslie completed her tenure as the first female chair of the ASHRAE Chapter Technology Transfer Committee last year, managing programs in support of 190 ASHRAE Chapters from over 132 nations.  She is extremely excited to be back to her roots in Seattle, starting the Puget Sound Chapter ASHRAE Women in ASHRAE Committee.
