February President’s Message

Hello Fellow ASHRAE members!

This month of February is about LOVE of ASHRAE.

Please join us on February 22nd in welcoming Society Vice President Bjarne Olesen as he shares how European engineers decrease energy use in their buildings.

Learning from experiences around the globe is one good reason to love being an ASHRAE member. Our group is international! We will also be visited by Regional XI DRC (Director and Regional Chair) to update us on Regional news.

Recognition for the great work you do is another reason to LOVE being an ASHRAE member. Technology Award Applications are being accepted now through February 28th.

We are looking for volunteer judges. Projects are reviewed and selected by your peers, our judges, for recognition of a building designed to incorporate the innovation in our local field. If you have any questions about the award applications, or would like to be a judge, send an email to TAC@pugetsoundashrae.org.

Another volunteering opportunity is Mentor night at North Seattle Community College on March 2nd.  Being a volunteer demonstrates love for your work and community.

On the topic of volunteers, we are looking for volunteers to help us with various activities at the upcoming Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) this May. If you would like to take part and meet some of our Canadian members, please send an email to CRC@pugetsoundashrae.org.

Have you visited our website lately? Some things I love about it is the history timeline and Punch List, news, etc. We have put slides from our chapter meetings on the website for you to see what we talked about. There are pictures from our events also! ASHRAE members are able to add job postings and news (details on the Membership Promotion page).

Don’t forget to share your love of engineering with your kids (and kids at heart) by attending weekend’s Engineering Fair at the Museum of Flight.

Check out more News and Volunteer Opportunities on our Calendar and Punch List.

Can you feel the love yet? I think this month’s activities will make you LOVE your ASHRAE membership and get to know your membership benefits…

Sincerely,

Kathi Shoemake, PE, LEED AP BD+C

Your Puget Sound ASHRAE President
